BetAlpha is a prediction and analytics tool — we do not accept wagers, hold funds, or facilitate gambling. Still, the markets we model are real-money markets, and we believe the people using our product should have a clear, honest conversation about the risks.

Read this page before you bet. Come back to it if anything starts to feel off.

If gambling is hurting you or someone you love, help is available 24/7. In the U.S., call 1-800-GAMBLER or text 800GAM. International users: see the resources at the bottom of this page.

1. Three honest things about betting

  • Losing is part of it.A “positive EV” bet can still lose. Over any short window, variance dominates skill.
  • Past performance doesn't guarantee future results. Good weeks and bad weeks are both real; the average is what matters over thousands of bets.
  • Models are wrong sometimes. BetAlpha is a tool to improve your decisions, not a guarantee of profit. We never promise outcomes, and we never will.

2. Age and jurisdiction

You must be 18 or older, or the higher legal gambling age where you live (for example, 21 in several U.S. states), to use BetAlpha. Sports-betting laws differ widely by country, state, and province — knowing and following the law where you are is your responsibility.

3. Guardrails we encourage

Most bettors who stay in the game for the long run do these things before a single bet is placed:

  • Set a bankroll. Use only money you can afford to lose — never borrowed money, never rent, never emergency savings.
  • Use unit sizing. Cap any single bet at 1–2% of your bankroll, even when a market looks strong. Fractional Kelly (½, ¼, ⅛) exists for a reason.
  • Set time limits.Decide ahead of time how long you'll research and how long you'll watch games. Walk away when you hit the limit.
  • Keep a record. Track every bet you place — win or lose. Nothing cures tilt faster than looking at a real ROI number.
  • Never chase losses. Doubling up after a bad day is the fastest way to a worse one.
  • Avoid betting when impaired.Don't bet drunk, high, sleep-deprived, furious, or broke.

4. Warning signs

Problem gambling can sneak up on anyone. If any of these sound like you, please take a break and reach out for help:

  • Betting more than you planned, or for longer than you planned.
  • Betting money you need for rent, food, or bills.
  • Borrowing money — or selling things — to keep betting.
  • Chasing losses, or feeling you have to “win it back.”
  • Lying to family or friends about how much you're betting.
  • Feeling anxious, irritable, or depressed when you're not betting.
  • Missing work, school, relationships, or sleep because of betting.
  • Feeling guilt or shame after a session, but returning anyway.

5. Tools you should use

  • Sportsbook limits. Every major licensed sportsbook lets you set deposit, loss, wager, time, or session limits. Turn them on before you bet, not after.
  • Cool-off and self-exclusion. If you need a break, most sportsbooks offer a cool-off period or a longer-term self-exclusion. Take it — cooling off is a sign of strength, not weakness.
  • State self-exclusion registries. Many U.S. states operate voluntary self-exclusion programs that block you from all licensed sportsbooks in that state.
  • Device-level blocking. Tools like Gamban, BetBlocker, and GamBan allow you to block gambling apps and sites across your devices.

Elsewhere

Search for “problem gambling helpline” together with your country name, or visit the global help directory maintained by BeGambleAware.

7. What we commit to

  • We do not advertise to, or knowingly allow, users under the legal gambling age.
  • We do not use dark patterns to push you toward placing a bet. The “place a bet” step always happens in a separate, licensed sportsbook that you choose.
  • We show variance honestly — win probability, expected value, and historical performance are displayed as ranges, not guarantees.
  • We will remove your data and deactivate your account on request. Email contact@betalpha.pro.

8. Contact

Concerned about your own betting? Concerned about someone else's? We want to know. Write to contact@betalpha.pro. Messages are read by a human.
